Tetra Pak Tree Day October 5th 2017

Junior Infants planted some acorns for Tetra Pak Tree Day. They have been learning about the importance of trees. First, they put the acorns in water to see if they would float or sink. The acorns that sank were the "good ones" so we planted those ones. Thank you to Ann Marie Kelly for buying the compost for me when I was under pressure! And to all the people who sent in the reusable milk cartons. Great Teamwork!

Tomorrow they will go on an Autumn Nature Walk with Senior Infants to do some "Tree Spotting" on Claregalway Castle grounds. Thank you to Claregalway Castle for allowing us to do this.

Camogie News

On Wednesday, 4th October 2017, Claregalway Educate Together participated in the Cumann na mBunscol Camogie Mini-Sevens Competition at Castlegar GAA Pitch.

We brought 10 girls from 4th, 5th and 6th Class- Kristin, Amy, Cora, Katie, Evita, Kasumi, Oonagh, Muireann, Keela and Vanessa.

To say they played their hearts out would be an understatement. We were immensely proud of them. The conditions were terrible-it was nearly the worst day of the year but they tackled ferociously and fought for every ball. Suzanne and I were very impressed with their bravery and commitment.

They should be very proud of themselves.

Many thanks to Castlegar N.S. who hosted the event. They had tea, coffee and beautiful sandwiches for anyone who wanted them.

A special word of thanks for the two parents who drove on the day- Ian Dunbar and Geraldine Monaghan.

Thank you also to Suzanne, Maria and John who give up their free time coaching camogie and hurling on Tuesday afternoons at Claregalway Community Centre from 3-4pm .

European Week of Sport

The school are tasked with running from Dublin to Estonia, a distance of 3202km by Friday. Each lap around the yard constitutes a km. 1st & 2nd class were out and about the first day and we ran 300km. If some of the 1st & 2ndclass seemed tired this week, you now know why :-)

First and Second class parents can go over to the 1st & 2nd class tab to see some of the action.
