The BIG TRAVEL CHALLENGE

1st - 15th February 2023

C.E.T. are taking part in the BIG TRAVEL CHALLENGE again this year. Our Green Committee are encouraging all modes of sustainable travel (walking, cycling, scooting, carpooling and taking the bus) and would love students to make a big effort to park ‘n’ stride if they live too far from the school.

Climate Action Week

What’s your #ClimatePledge?

All classes at C.E.T. discussed Climate Change this week for Climate Action Week. Students are making an effort to walk, cycle, scoot, rollerblade and park & stride more on their way to and from school. 1st Class listened to the story We Want Our Park Back read by author & illustrator Oisín McGann and he showed the children how to draw one of the characters from the book. They also went for a nature walk with Shóna’s Class to look out for signs of autumn & connect with nature. Infants and their 5th Class buddies were also out and about connecting with each other & nature! Junior & Senior Infants reused waste in their art lessons to create Junk Art. Senior Infants listened to the book Here We Are: Notes for living on Planet Earth by Oliver Jeffers and 1st Class watched To The Arctic and listened to the book Save the Arctic by Bethany Stahl. #ClimateActionWeek

Green-Schools Committee

We will soon be looking for representatives for our Green-Schools Committee 2022-2023 at C.E.T. If your child is in 1st - 6th Class, we encourage them to prepare a speech/presentation if they are interested in being elected onto the committee. Class teachers will let you know when the elections are being held. We continue our work on the theme Global Citizenship Travel. We encourage all in our school community to use sustainable travel where they can.
